Digital fundraising run for psychosocial support for those affected by amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and other motor neurone diseases
17 September – 17 October 2021
“ALS” – what does it mean? To be diagnosed with ALS, or Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (often known as Motor Neurone Disease), means one will experience the progressive paralysis of the entire body; the loss of the ability to walk, move arms and hands, speak and breathe. It is a fatal, incurable disease that takes over the lives and future plans of patients and their relatives from one day to the next. To live with ALS is to live with overwhelming fear and grief – and all those affected by this disease need and deserve adequate support
Psychological support is vital for the patients suffering from this disease, and their loved ones, however, this service is not available under regular covered care. In organising this charity run, we hope to provide more accessible professional support to everyone touched by ALS at our specialised outpatient clinic at Dresden University Hospital.
Here you can learn more about our important goal and how you can take part in our charity event – not only by running and walking, but also by swimming, skating or driving, in a wheelchair, on a bicycle or in a boat – however you want to move!
Together we can make a difference, and make sure that things run better than before!
Celebrate your efforts by taking a picture of yourself or your team with your certificate and upload it to our photo gallery!
